Yin Yoga (Slow Deep Stretch)
In this class we stretch slowly and deeply. We hold poses for 2-3 minutes to affect the deeper connective tissues of the body. The benefit to you will be a more flexible body and a feeling of deep peace. Anyone can safely join this class, even if you have had no previous yoga experience.
Tuesdays
10:30 to 11:30 AM
Mantra Yoga, All Levels
This class is an alignment based yoga practice accompanied by the chanting of mantra. The class starts with a teaching theme based in yogic philosophy, and a mantra that supports the theme. We then engage in a physical practice that allows the student to embody the theme. Students will find clear instructions in alignment to assure that their body experiences its own fullness in the poses. This practice is safe for the body and opening to the spirit.

Student feedback:
"The first thing that immediately comes to mind when I reflect on Kathy's classes is her amazing musical talents--her beautiful voice and musical abilities are standout and make all of her classes special. She has a knack for storytelling that I love. She sets a theme at the beginning of class and continues to weave it in during the practice while staying in the flow of practice. All of her classes are well thought out, creative and grounding. She has a very grounding presence, which I love." Angela Andiorio
"Kathy directly engages with her students in a very compassionate way. She is authentic in that she seems to practice what she teaches. She has a playful quality that brings a lightness to her classes." Elaine Slivka
"Kathy's clarity about the theme and focus for her class helps me to set my own intentions for the practice. Kathy has an authentic love of yoga and it shines through in her words, movements and actions. She encourages her students to try new things and creates the feeling of a safe space in which they can experiment without feeling judged."
Jennie Reece
"I really love the stories Kathy tells at the beginning of each class. They give insight into the spiritual aspect of yoga. The way she teaches alignment helps us get into the poses without injury. She makes yoga fun and enjoyable. I always feel better about myself after class. And of course I love her singing. It is not only beautiful but calming. I am very thankful she is my teacher." Linda Moore
"Kathy is patient, encouraging and helpful to everyone regardless of their abilities. She always takes extra time to make sure everyone has the correct alignment. She keeps me right on the upper edge of my ability." Eleanor Colombo
"I enjoy how Kathy opens her classes with a spiritual type of thought or theme. It always immediately takes me and welcomes me to my practice. Something that is unique to Kathy's classes is her beautiful voice whether telling a narrative or singing. Her narratives weave an enveloping sense of caring throughout her classes." Jacquie Freeman
"I feel comfortable in Kathy's classes because she has a good knowledge of yoga and the body and I know the practice will be beneficial to me. She understands our limits but she doesn't let us "give up" either. Her sense of humor is fun and helps us to laugh at ourselves and to enjoy our hard work. I really enjoy her classes." Regina Dorman
"Kathy always has a spirit of welcoming, love, joy, and genuine concern for her pupils. Her embedded lessons in each practice are always simple, yet profoundly wise and applicable to everyday life. I have had many 'ah ha' moments in her classes from these lessons and experienced moments of genuine, unexpected joy on my mat while learning from and practicing with Kathy. She is also very thorough in breaking down poses piece by piece so they can be orchestrated correctly. I always appreciate this attention to detail because I know I won't get hurt in her classes. She demonstrates great patience in setting up poses correctly. I feel confident in my poses because I learned how to do them correctly from her. Because of this, I can go to any yoga class and feel safe. I feel like I've been given this secret little gift, and that brings me joy." Barbara Stein
“The first thing that comes to mind is the warm and personal greeting Kathy gives to each person that arrives to share practice with her. This welcome is so inviting and really sets the tone for her classes. Once things get moving, I value her off the mat teaching style. The way she moves through the room offering guidance and support is both comforting and empowering. Finally, I appreciate the thought she puts in to including wonderful music, be it live (my favorite!) or carefully selected recordings, in all her classes.” Elizabeth Bridygham
“I love the ease Kathy puts everyone in when we first come into the room. I love how positive she is with everyone even when they can't do a hard pose very well, the way she encourages them to try and then praises them for giving it their all. I love how she really gives me a great cardio workout some days while still maintaining good form and holding great poses. My knees never hurt me anymore since I started doing yoga with Kathy.” Rebecca Lake
"The words kind and gentle come to mind when I think of Kathy's classes. She is a welcoming teacher, particularly with a brand new student. She shows that she has put a great deal of thought into the planning of her classes each week." Sarah O'Neill
"A great teacher must have the expertise and knowledge of the subject - a confidence, and be able to pass it on to their students in a way they can grasp and understand - Kathy does. A great teacher must have the temperament to engage their students and deal with multiple kinds of people, personalities, levels of ability, etc. This includes patience, calmness, grace, gaining trust, a level of humor and light touch. Kathy has this. A great teacher must have a passion for her subject; students can see that joy, spirit and enthusiasm and want to absorb any bit of it they can! Kathy has this!" Karen Cramer
